An unknown Australian soldier of the 1914-1918 War was interred in a tomb in the Australian War Memorial's Hall of Memory, Canberra, on 11 November 1993. The tomb is inscribed with the words: AN UNKNOWN AUSTRALIAN SOLDIER KILLED IN THE WAR OF 1914-1918: HE SYMBOLISES ALL AUSTRALIANS WHO HAVE DIED IN WAR
