Commonwealth War Graves Foundation launches in Scotland
We were delighted to support the launch of the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation in Scotland at an event hosted at the historic Edinburgh Castle.
Claire Horton, CWGC Director General at the launch.
Becoming a registered charity in Scotland is an important milestone and means that the Foundation is now free and able to raise funds that will support the important commemorative and educational work carried out by the Foundation in Scotland and the rest of the United Kingdom.
The event was a huge success, with guests including politicians from across Scotland, members of the armed forces, and representatives from school and youth groups – all of whom were united in the common cause of remembering the stories of the men and women commemorated by the CWGC in Scotland and around the world.

The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation works to remember the stories of the men and women of the Commonwealth who lost their lives in the world wars and are commemorated by the Commission.
As well as spreading the word about the work of the Commission, the CWGF also works to inspire the next generation of history lovers to ensure that the stories of the 1.7 million Commonwealth war dead are not forgotten.
