CWGC European visitor centres reopening

Following our usual winter closures, our European visitor centres are ready to welcome you back to our sites.

Both the CWGC Experience in Beaurains, France, and the Ieper Information Centre in Belgium will open this week. Both centres are great places to learn more about our work in Europe and around the world as well as discovering more information about our sites in France and Belgium.

While we continue to deal with the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, we do ask that all visitors to any of our sites around the world continue to abide by local regulations, and we advise that you check the advice of the local authorities before you travel.

We can’t wait to see you there.

The CWGC Experience

The CWGC Experience will reopen on Tuesday 1 February 2022.

The CWGC Experience is a unique visitor attraction in Beaurains, near Arras in France, where you can discover more about the history of the Commission and the men and women we commemorate. Our audio guide will walk you through our work, from recovery to reburial, and shine a light on the behind-the-scenes work needed to commemorate the Commonwealth casualties of the two world wars.

You can also discover more about our maintenance teams and master craftsmen who care for our 23,000 sites around the world. You’ll be able to see some of them at work and find out more about what it takes to care for our iconic cemeteries and memorials. Find out more about the CWGC Experience

The Ieper Information Centre

The Ieper Information Centre will reopen on Wednesday 2 February 2022.

Just a stone’s throw from the iconic Menin Gate, our Ieper Information Centre is based in Ieper, West Flanders, which saw intense fighting during World War One.

The Information centre is the perfect place to start your journey on the Western Front – discover more about our work and the local cemeteries and memorials, including Tyne Cot Cemetery and Memorial, Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery and, of course, the Menin Gate.

Our team in Ieper can also help you get started with our casualty database through which you can find out more about the casualties commemorated at our sites around the world, or find out more about a family member who died during the world wars. Find out more about the Ieper Information Centre
