CWGC Torch of Commemoration Ceremony held at the Menin Gate

The CWGC Torch of Commemoration was lit under the Menin Gate, Ieper in a ceremony on Sunday 8th September.

The Torch made a special appearance at the daily Last Post ceremony and marked the beginning of the Freedom Trail which will start in Leopoldsburg, Belgium on the 10 September and make its way to Arnhem, ending at the John Frost Bridge on 20 September.

The Torch will accompany the Freedom Trail, stopping regularly on the route taken by the armoured units rushing to relieve the airborne units at Arnhem as part of Operation Market Garden.
