Gaza War Cemetery repaired after recent unrest
Our team in Gaza has undertaken repairs after recent unrest in the region caused damage to one of our cemeteries.
In May, Gaza War Cemetery was caught in the crossfire and hit by explosives. All our staff remain safe and well and worked elsewhere while specialists removed any unexploded ordnance.
Local contractors have since completed structural repairs, including restoring staff facilities and the entrance gate.
Meanwhile our gardeners have reinstated turf and plants and installed a new sprinkler system to replace damaged sections.
In total 25 headstones were affected, and replacements have already been ordered, to be produced by our team based in Beaurains, France.
In the interim, temporary markers have been placed at each grave. Despite the damage above the surface, nothing below the ground was disturbed.
