Historical Cases of Non-Commemoration Progress Report No.10
In this update, the Non-Commemoration Programme’s project team shares the latest progress in properly commemorating service personnel who served for the British Empire but were not remembered equally or individually by name.
This quarter, we’ve made significant strides on individual projects in Kenya, Sierra Leone, and South Africa. We are also seeing increased public attention on the diverse units of the Commonwealth and beyond that served alongside Britain and its allies during the two World Wars. However, much remains unknown about the individuals who served, especially those who did not return home. Through our exploration of global archives and digital preservation efforts, the CWGC is working to account for and honour those servicemen who perished and never received the recognition they deserved for their contributions.
