Rededication ceremony for Australian servicemen takes place at Fromelles (Pheasant Wood) Military Cemetery
A rededication ceremony was held for seven soldiers of the Australian Infantry, A.I.F. on 19 July 2023 at CWGC’s Fromelles (Pheasant Wood) Military Cemetery, France.
The soldiers all died on 20 July 1916 during the Battle of Fromelles and were previously commemorated on the memorial to the missing at CWGC’s V.C. Corner Australian Cemetery and Memorial, Fromelles.
The soldiers are:
- Private Edwin Charles Gray, 32nd Battalion, A.I.F.
- Private Walter Allen Grace, 31st Battalion, A.I.F.
- Private Richard James McGuarr, 55th Battalion, A.I.F.
- Private Alexander Russell Robert Page, 32nd Battalion, A.I.F.
- Private Maurice James Claxton, 32nd Battalion, A.I.F.
- Sergeant Oscar Eric Baumann, 32nd Battalion, A.I.F.
- Corporal William John Stephen, 55th Battalion, A.I.F.
We have marked their recently identified graves with Commission headstones and will care for their final resting places in perpetuity.
