- Additional Info Chevalier of the Legion of Honour. Croix De Guerre (France). Son of Maj. Gen. John Heron Maxwell Shaw Stewart and Mary Catherine Bedingfeld Shaw Stewart. A poet of the first war, Shaw-Stewart was educated at Eton and Balliol College, Oxford, (with Julian Grenfell, another poet who lost his life in the war). Hertford and Ireland Scholarships; Double First. He was considered by his peers to be brilliant. He fought at Gallipoli and was later killed in France.
