What War Graves Week means to industry leaders
War Graves Week (WGW) is the time we shout about the Commission and all the great work we do. It’s also the time we consider how War Graves Week fits into the wider world.
From transport to logistics, to engineering, the World Wars had a big impact on the way we move people and goods worldwide.
This year’s War Graves Week theme is “Ordinary People, Extraordinary Times”. We’re championing the everyday men and women, people like you and me, that gave up their daily lives and collectively achieved amazing things during wartime.
Many of those we are commemorating and celebrating this WGW were pioneers. They helped create unique engineering solutions, helped moved men and material across the globe, and ensured the logistics needed to fight the World Wars kept flowing.
But what lessons can we learn from the actions of these men and women? We sat down with a variety of industry and academic leaders to discover how the World Wars affected their areas of expertise and how their learnings can be applied to today’s modern world.
