Commemorating ANZAC Day 2024
On Thursday, 25 April, ANZAC Day ceremonies were held at CWGC sites commemorating the men and women of Australia and New Zealand who fought and died during the two world wars.
Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery, FRANCE
CWGC Director General, Claire Horton CBE laid a wreath on behalf of the organisation during the annual ANZAC Day Dawn Ceremony at the Australian National Memorial, Villers-Bretonnneux Cemetery on the Somme, France.
Chunuk Bair (New Zealand) Memorial, Turkey
CWGC Vice Chairman, Vice Admiral Peter Hudson CB CBE laid wreaths on behalf of the organisation during ANZAC Day Ceremonies in Turkey.

Rome War Cemetery, ITALY
The ANZAC Day ceremony at CWGC Rome War Cemetery was organized by the Australian Embassy to Rome. Many participated in the commemoration including the Australian Embassy to Rome Chargé d’Affaires Ms Alison Burrows, the New Zealand Embassy Ambassador to Rome Ms Jackie Frizelle, the Turkish Ambassador to Rome Mr Omer Gùcùk, the Australian Ambassador to the Holy See Ms Chiara Porro, the British Ambassador to Italy Hon Edward Llewellyn OBE, the Ambassador of Canada to Italy, Ms Elissa Golberg, representatives of the Italian Army and many others.
CWGC Country Manager Italy, Ms Claudia Scimonelli laid a wreath on behalf of the Commission and the ceremony had music provided by the “Fanfara del 4 reggimento Carabinieri a Cavallo” (Italian Mounted Band).
Oslo Western Cemetery, Norway
Our wreath was laid by Haakon Vinje our Honorary Representative and Head of the Norwegian War Graves Service.
Berks Cemetery, Belgium
CWGC Area Director C&SEA, Geert Bekaert laid wreaths at the many Commemoration services that took place in Belgium
