CWGC is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Hill as the new Director of Finance and Corporate Services
Ian joins CWGC from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, where he is Executive Director, Finance & Resources.
Ian has led significant finance and corporate support teams in both the not-for-profit and commercial sector, across a number of industries. He has also spent a considerable part of his career undertaking leadership roles in both operations and corporate sustainability, where he had experience as Chief Sustainability Officer of BT's Openreach business.
Ian will be responsible for leading CWGC's Finance and Corporate Support Services. He brings his significant experience in sustainable business to CWGC, as the organisation with 23,000 sites in over 150 countries worldwide seeks to manage its global estate in an increasingly environmentally sustainable way.
Commenting on his appointment, Ian said: "It's a great honour to be joining CWGC at such an important time for the organisation. I am delighted to be able to contribute to the challenge of managing a global estate in a manner which is not only financially and environmentally sustainable, but which continues the vitally important task of honouring the legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice."
Commenting on Ian’s appointment, CWGC Director General Claire Horton CBE said: "We are delighted to be welcoming Ian into the fold at what is a very exciting and busy time for CWGC, as we embark upon the development of our new long term strategy, with some key growth, development and sustainability opportunities at its core. There’s much to do in the years ahead and Ian’s broad experience across multiple sectors and industries will ensure together, we are maximising every opportunity to deliver our core mission of caring for, and perpetuating the memory of the almost 2 million fallen men and women of the First and Second World Wars."
Ian joins the Commission at the end of September, taking over from Interim Finance and Corporate Services Director, Jo Knowles, who has worked in the organisation since September 2021.
