CWGC site rededicated after renovations
On Tuesday 30th November 2021, a small ceremony was held at Cranwell (St Andrew) Churchyard in Lincolnshire. The Ministry of Defence plot at the site was rededicated by the Reverend Al Jenkins after work had recently been completed at the plot.
This work was funded from the Grant provided to the CWGC by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust and enabled the CWGC to carry out a comprehensive renovation of the East Plot. This work included: realigning 120 headstones; creating standard borders and planting; re-levelling the ground and laying new turf.
The work was carried out by our Regional Operations Team in the East of England with support from local contractors. The project benefitted greatly from the support and guidance provided by Wing Commander Trevor Bush RAF (Retd.) who is the Church Warden at St Andrew.
Among those in attendance at the event were representatives for the CWGC, families of those buried in the plot, the Bishop of Lincoln and Officer Cadets currently undergoing their Initial Officer Training at nearby RAF College Cranwell.
As well as the Ministry of Defence plot, Cranwell (St Andrew) Churchyard contains 74 burials from the two world wars.
