Read Non-Commemoration Progress Report - Number 14
Over 5,000 learners in Cape Town have taken part in a youth programme honouring overlooked WW1 contributions, facilitated by the Elevate team in South Africa
The latest Historical Cases of Non-Commemoration Progress Report (Number 14) marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to honour those previously excluded from formal remembrance. With historian-led archival research nearing completion, the number of newly identified servicemen remains at 11,640, though this figure is expected to rise as verification continues.
This quarter also saw the publication of a landmark report outlining inequalities in commemoration after the Second World War and work continues on the new redress memorial in Sierra Leone and at Kariokor Nairobi War Cemetery.
