The Duke of Gloucester visits Hornchurch Cemetery

On Tuesday 26 November, we were honoured to accompany His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester on a visit to Hornchurch Cemetery and its War Graves plot.

The Duke met with Councillor Jerry O'Sullivan, Mayor of Havering, the Reverend Ken Wylie, Parish Priest and area Deacon, Brigadier Lisa Ferris, New Zealand Defence Advisor, Gareth Hardware, CWGC Area Director United Kingdom and Northern Area and Tony Matthews, volunteer CWGC speaker and EOHO.

The Reverend Wylie read a short prayer followed by a bugler sounding the last post. After a silence, wreaths were laid by the Duke, Nick Bracken OBE DL, Deputy Lieutenant for the London Borough of Havering, Councillor O'Sullivan and Mrs Carole Barrett, Chair of the Royal British Legion, Hornchurch.

After the ceremony, the Duke inspected the graves in the Memorial Garden and Nuie Island Graves accompanied by Gareth and Tony.
