Brighton City Cemetery - CWGC War Graves Week Open Day
Join us at Brighton to learn all about the work the CWGC does to commemorate those buried here from both world wars.
We will be offering the opportunity to learn about the history of the CWGC and those we commemorate at this site. Across the day there will also be the opportunity to talk to our maintenance & horticulture teams, learn about our volunteering programme and have a go at engraving with our stonemasons.
- Tours of the site including information about our history and work plus stories of people we commemorate here
- Family based activities
- Meet our staff – got a burning question? Ask our experts anything!
- Stone mason demonstrations – and have a go yourself
- Eyes on Hands On demonstration – how our volunteers play a vital role in helping us to maintain UK war graves.
Feel free to drop in any time between 10am - 4.30pm or join a tour of the site. These are free but need to booked.
We will also be running a session designed for children. (Suitable for ages 7-12). This 30 minute session is designed to engage children in the nationalities and stories of our casualties and will involve activities such as I-Spy and headstone rubbing. Parents/carers will be free to enjoy the other opportunities on offer while we amuse the children!
Parking available on site.
There are no toilet facilities available.
Please ensure you wear suitable clothing and footwear for the weather. The site itself is hilly and access to headstones will be mostly via grass.
