Rededication ceremony for Lance Corporal Edward Smith, 38411, Northumberland Fusiliers

A rededication ceremony for Lance Corporal Edward Smith, 38411, Northumberland Fusiliers will be held at 3.30pm (local time) on 14 May 2024 at CWGC’s Courcelles-au-Bois Communal Cemetery Extension, France.

Lance Corporal Smith died on 11 December 1916 and was previously commemorated on the CWGC Thiepval Memorial. CWGC has marked his recently identified grave with a Commission headstone and will care for his final resting place in perpetuity.

The ceremony has been organised by the British Ministry of Defence’s Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre and will be attended by Defence Staff, Regimental representatives, CWGC staff and local dignitaries.
