Rededication ceremony for Second Lieutenant James Ferris, 16th Battalion, Highland Light Infantry

A rededication ceremony for Second Lieutenant James Ferris, 16th Battalion, Highland Light Infantry (att. 97th Trench Mortar Battery) will be held at 10.30am (local time) on 26 October 2023 at CWGC’s Tyne Cot Cemetery, Belgium.

Second Lieutenant Ferris died on 2 December 1917 and was previously commemorated on the CWGC Tyne Cot Memorial.

CWGC will mark his recently identified grave with a Commission headstone, bearing his name and a personal inscription chosen by his family. We will care for his final resting place in perpetuity.

The ceremony has been organised by the British Ministry of Defence’s Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre and will be attended by Second Lieutenant Ferris’s family, Defence Staff, Regimental representatives, CWGC staff and local dignitaries.
