Stonefall Harrogate Cemetery - War Graves Week Tours
War Graves Week is an initiative aimed at encouraging people from the local community to come together and discover the World War heritage on their doorstep – learning about the stories of those commemorated by the CWGC in Harrogate and the skills, dedication and expertise of those CWGC staff and volunteers who work to keep their memory alive.
With over 1000 Commonwealth War Graves, Stonefall Cemetery is one of the largest Commonwealth War Graves Commission sites in the North of England. Nearly all of the casualties are airmen from the Second World War.
For War Graves Week, join us for a walk around the cemetery to learn about the work of the CWGC and the stories of casualties from across the Commonwealth who are buried at Stonefall.
Please note: The starting point for the tour is in front of the Crematorium - please be mindful that on weekdays cremations and funerals might be taking place.
Please come dressed for the weather. The tour involves walking on grass as well as paths and will last for approximately 90 minutes.
For daytime tours you can park within the cemetery (be mindful that the gates for vehicles are locked at 1600 at weekends and 1630 weekdays).
There is a public toilet near the main entrance from Wetherby Road.
