History information
This cemetery contains the graves of four Commonwealth sailors (two of them unidentified) who died when the armed trawler H.M. Trawler Bedfordshire was torpedoed in May 1942.
A perpetual lease for this tiny site was granted by the North Carolina State Property Office in 1976, making it probably the smallest Commission cemetery in the world. The cemetery is maintained on the Commission's behalf by the US Coastguard.
