Location information
The cemetery is on the island of Hong Kong, on the eastern side of the Shan Kwong Road. The war graves are near an ornamental fountain which lies to the south of the cemetery Synagogue.
History information
Hong Kong fell to Japanese forces on Christmas Day 1941 following a brief but intense period of fighting. Most of those buried or commemorated on the island were killed at this time, or died later as internees or prisoners of war during the Japanese occupation. There are two burials of the Second World War in this civil cemetery and 1 non World War service burial now in the care of C.W.G.C.
