History information
The 1914-1918 War burials are in various positions in the cemetery. During the 1939-1945 War a large section, comprising of three plots, was set aside for service war graves, but only one plot was used. This is close to the main entrance and was intended for airmen, who form the majority of the service casualties buried here. The majority are in the service plot; the remainder are in privately owned graves, selected by those responsible for the interments, in other parts of the cemetery.
Facing the service plot is a Cross of Sacrifice which stands on a podium on slightly rising ground.
There are now over 20, 1914-1918 and 70, 1939-1945 War casualties commemorated in this site.
