Location information
Outgaarden is a small village 52 kilometres south-east of Brussels, and 7 kilometres south of Tirlemont, lying 800 metres east of the Tirlemont-Charleroi main road. The cemetery is on the western outskirts of Outgaarden, and the Commonwealth graves are in the south-western portion.
History information
The British Expeditionary Force was involved in the later stages of the defence of Belgium following the German invasion in May 1940, and suffered many casualties in covering the withdrawal to Dunkirk. Outgaarden Communal Cemetery contains the graves of two Commonwealth airmen of the Second World War.
