Location information

Port Said British Protestant Cemetery is reached through Port Said War Memorial Cemetery, which is situated on the western outskirts of the town on the strip of land between the Mediterranean and Lake Manzala. The Cemetery is approximately 200 metres before the Customs Post on the road to Damietta on the edge of the main Port Said Cemetery complex.

Saturday to Thursday: 7.00am to 14.30.

Friday: closed

The cemetery is kept locked outside of these hours.

History information

Port Said lies at the northern outlet of the Suez Canal. It was an important hospital centre during the First World War, and was a sector headquarters for the fighter defence of the canal during the Second World War. There were also hospitals and a transit camp nearby. This civil cemetery contains five Commonwealth burials of the Second World War and one Dutch war grave.
