Location information

This is a public cemetery 2 kilometres from the centre of the town of Heraklion, Crete. The British Plot will be found by entering the cemetery through the Greek Orthodox Cemetery (the only Greek Orthodox cemetery on the island).

History information

The British Military plot contains the graves of 200 British sailors and soldiers who died protecting Crete between 1897 and 1909. They are commemorated by name on a central memorial. There are no First or Second War graves in this site. The plot is maintained by the Commission on behalf of the British Government.
