History information
During the First World War the port of Boston was used to a small extent by hospital ships, and more than 4,000 sick and wounded passed through it. The First World War graves are scattered throughout the cemetery but most of those of the Second World War are in a special plot. Behind this plot is a memorial to the civilians of Boston killed by enemy action during the Second World War. Boston Cemetery contains 50 Commonwealth burials of the First World War and 30 of the Second. There is also one non-war grave in the war graves plot.
