Entered R.N.1873; Commander 1896; Captain 1903; Rear Admiral 1913; Vice Admiral (retired) 1915. Retired from the army with the rank of Colonel. Colonel Commandant of Dunkirk, 1916-1918; O.C. Troops, Paris, during Armistice.
