  • Additional Info Son of the late Edward Thomas and Elizabeth Evans; husband of Madeline P. Evans, of 505, Great King St., Dunedin. Born at Stratford, New Plymouth.

    Joined Royal Army Medical Corps in Dec., 1915 (attd. successively to 15th Bn. A. & S. Hdrs., 46th Reserve Park, 2nd Stat. Hosp., and 29th Casualty Clearing Stn. on the Somme);Senior Medical Officer, and Chief Surgeon at Codford Hosp., he arrived in New Zealand on the troopship "Ionic", in charge of invalided officers and men; then acted as Surgeon at the Military Annexe at Auckland and (after being attd. for duty at Awapuni, Featherston, and Trentham Military Camps) again proceeded overseas an 1st Oct., 1918 as Senior Medical Officer 43rd Reinforcements; subsequently appointed Regtl. Medical Officer at Sling Camp, and Medical Officer No.2. N.Z.Hosp., Oaklands Park until May, 1919.
