Entered Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers in 1892; Indian Army, Hyderabad Contingent, 1895. Served in the Tirah Campaign and on Punjaub Frontier, as Cantonment magistrate, Baroda, and Railway magistrate, 1st class, 1908-12; Malakand Movable Column 1914-15, Recruiting Tour and Muscat (Field Service) 1916. Officiating H.B.M. Consul Muscat 1917. Waziristan and Mesopotamia 1918.
