Our first electric van joins our UK fleet

Handing over the keys to our new electric van

We are delighted to introduce the first electric van to our fleet in the UK – a key step towards meeting our sustainability commitments in the UK and around the world.

We’re committed to a net-zero greenhouse gas emissions target by 2050 and are dedicated to reducing our emissions as part of the global effort to prevent the most dangerous consequences of climate change.

Our team across the UK clocked up more than 800,000 road miles in the last year, so we are exploring ways to reduce these emissions while still caring for more than 300,000 war dead in our cemeteries and on our memorials across the country.

This new electric van is the first of its type to join our fleet anywhere in the world and will act as a pilot to assess its viability for other members of staff both in the UK and across the rest our global estate.

Our aim is to transition to 100% renewable electricity wherever possible by 2031, and this is just one of many fantastic initiatives that are helping us to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and helping us meet our commitment.

Lise, our Head of Environmental Sustainability, said: “It’s great that our UK team have grasped this opportunity of incorporating the first CWGC electric van into their fleet. The use of this electric van will help demonstrate the viability of this type of vehicle for other members of staff with similar job functions. This is one of many great initiatives that are helping to underpin our sustainability transition and, specifically, this initiative will contribute to our wide-ranging efforts to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.”

We’ve given the keys to Richard, our Regional Operations Coordinator – East Region, so if you see us out and about on the roads, give us a wave.
