Historical Note
At the time of construction, the casualties at this site were commemorated collectively on a memorial within the cemetery without their names. The individual graves were not marked, although the names of casualties known to be commemorated here were included in a cemetery register. In 2001, the names of all identified casualties within the cemetery were added to the memorial.

Location information
The cemetery is on the western outskirts of the town, on the strip of land between the Mediterranean and Lake Manzala. It is situated in the main Port Said cemetery complex, approximately 200 metres before the Customs Post on the road to Damietta on the edge of the main Port Said Cemetery complex.

Saturday to Thursday: 7.00am to 14.30.
Friday: closed
The cemetery is kept locked outside of these hours.

History information
Port Said, at the northern outlet of the Suez Canal, was an important hospital centre during the First World War. From May-November 1915, it received wounded from Gallipoli and later from operations in Egypt and Palestine. In 1915 an Armenian refugee camp was established near the town.
This civil cemetery contains 33 Commonwealth burials of the First World War.
