Location information
Rochefort-sur-Mer is a naval port near the mouth of the River Charente and some 480 kilometres from Paris. Rochefort-sur-Mer Naval Cemetery is within the former Naval Base, near the Naval Hospital, which is at the north-east of the Rue Denfert-Rochereau, to the north-west of the town centre. There are 29 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War here, one of which is unidentified. The graves are located in the north-east corner of the cemetery.
Visiting information
The cemetery is normally kept locked. Keys are obtainable from the Tourtist Office in the Avenue Sadi Carnot (behind the Post Office) in Rochefort - Tel. 05 46 99 08 60.
The keys to the cemetery may only be obtained on production of identity papers - such as passport, or in the case of French nationals a carte de sejour or carte d'identite.
OPENING TIMES of Tourist Office at Avenue Sadi Carnot:
Monday to Saturday 09.30 to 12.30 and 14.00 to 18.30.
