The Cathedral and grounds will remain closed until this process is complete but accompanied access may be possible. To request access, contact the Monument Manger, Laura Millar, standrewscathedral.vo@hes.scot well in advance of any proposed visit, giving information on the grave to be visited, to allow HES to properly Risk Assess the visit to determine if and what level of access is possible. As an active work site governed by standard construction regulations, appropriate PPE may have to be worn, visitors will receive a site induction and a form which must be signed before the visit takes place (during usual visiting hours: see St Andrews Cathedral | Historic Environment Scotland | History) and visitors will be accompanied by a member of HESs Monument Conservation Team.
Visiting information
The cathedral burial ground is in the care of Historic Environment Scotland. Please note in June 2019 they decided to close part of the burial ground, which contains two of the war graves, following safety concerns. If visitors want to visit these graves then a request must be made to the Historic Environment Scotland staff who are working on site (see their website for details of their working hours). They will then escort visitors to the graves.
History information
The graves are within the grounds of the ruined cathedral.
