Location information

La Chapelle St Mesmin is a town 6 kilometres by road west of Orleans, on motorway exit 'Orleans Ouest - La Chapelle'. The six Indian war graves of 1914-1915 are situated in the old cemetery sited on rue des Fours. One grave is central of the south quarter to the right of the entrance, and five are on the east side of the new ground to the north.

History information

The five burials on the East side of the new ground came from a park, a former estate of the Bishops of Orleans, used as a staging camp for Indian troops, and later by the French 48th Supplementary Hospital.
