History information
The Indian Army (Non-Operational) Book of Remembrance commemorates casualties who served and died within India, away from operational zones, during the First World War. Those remembered here were not formerly recorded by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and are presently commemorated solely by their database entry. At present, the vast majority of these names were sourced from what are colloquially known as the Punjab Registers, housed in the Lahore Museum (Pakistan). The Commission will continue investigations to determine the location of lasting physical commemoration for these casualties.
