Location information
The cemetery is on the Adriatic coast, on the main railway line from Brindisi and Ancona to Rimini and Milan. To locate the one Commonwealth war grave, upon entering the cemetery by the main gate, follow the path around the chapel. Once behind the chapel, take the first alley on the right and the grave will be found on the left hand side. The casualty is buried at n. 173 (family headstones). History information
The Italians entered the war on the Allied side, declaring war on Austria, in May 1915. Commonwealth forces were at the Italian front between November 1917 and November 1918. The Royal and Merchant Navies were active in the Mediterranean and Adriatic throughout the war and many of their dead are buried along the Italian coast. Pesaro Communal Cemetery contains one Commonwealth burial of the First World War.
