Menin Gate 100: a new mark created to provide a unified visual identity to centenary events

The iconic Menin Gate is approaching a major centenary in 2027, and the new centenary logo created by CWGC draws its inspiration from the architecture of the memorial, integrating the number 100 to symbolise a century of shared commemoration at the site.
The Menin Gate 100 mark incorporates a simplified version of the iconic Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, one of our most easily recognisable war memorials in the world.
Featuring the memorial’s central triumphal arch and a lion in repose, it captures the Menin Gate’s dignity and enduring significance as part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed First World War funerary and memorial sites, as well as its deep connection to Ieper's history. With partners, we completed a major restoration of the Menin Gate in 2025, carefully timed to ensure the memorial was preserved and prepared for its centenary period.
Unveiled in 1927, The Menin Gate commemorates by name more than 54,000 Commonwealth servicemen who have no known war grave.
The 100th anniversary of the Menin Gate is an important occasion not just for us, but for the national and international partners we work with to care for the memorial, and of course, the local people of Ieper who continue to embrace our work over a century after the guns fell silent on the Ypres Salient.
We are particularly grateful for the continued cooperation and support of the City of Ieper, the Last Post Association, and the Flemish Government, through Flanders Heritage, whose ongoing commitment – including support for the restoration of the Menin Gate – helps ensure the memorial remains a focal point of commemoration in the city.
Ever since its unveiling, the sounds of the Last Post have resonated around the Gate, as hundreds of visitors visit for nightly renditions of this mournful tune, cementing the Menin Gate’s place as a key tourist destination.
We hope the new mark will become the anchor for event programmes, volunteer materials, social media and commemorative assets as we head towards the centenary year in the life of this magnificent memorial to the missing.
Keep an eye out for the Menin Gate 100 mark as we build up towards a very special centenary for the Menin Gate Memorial, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and the City of Ieper.
