INTRODUCING NOOR'S STORY

This video introduces our partnership with Biffa Award and the Association of Independent Museums to tell the story of Noor Inayat-Khan through our upcoming digital exhibition Noor Inayat-Khan: A woman of Conspicuous Courage which tells Noor's story, from her childhood in Russia and France, to becoming an undercover SOE operative during in the Second World War.

We took local Brownie groups to Runnymede memorial to discover Noor's story for themselves, to find out more about other woman of conspicuous courage and to get hands on with history.

Getting to Runnymede Memorial

The memorial commemorates more than 20,000 airmen and women who were lost in the Second World War during operations from bases in the United Kingdom and North and Western Europe who have no known grave.

It overlooks the River Thames on Cooper's Hill at Englefield Green between Windsor and Egham on the A308, 4 miles from Windsor.

The Noor Inayat-Khan exhibition is a permanent digital exhibition at the CWGC’s Runnymede Memorial in Surrey. The public will be able to explore the remarkable story of undercover agent Noor Inayat-Khan, who is commemorated at Runnymede Memorial, the memorial that remembers more than 20,000 air forces personnel killed in the Second World War, who have no known grave.

The exhibition is digital and free to access through a smart phone or tablet. You will be able to connect to the exhibition using wireless technology at Runnymede. Full instructions on how to connect to the wireless technology are located at the memorial. Visitors will need to bring a smart phone or a device to access the exhibition and it is only available at Runnymede Memorial. There are no phones or devices to hire at the site.

Visitors to the Runnymede Memorial will be invited to self-guide themselves using the digital exhibition around the iconic memorial Find out what it takes to be an undercover agent and put your code-breaking skills to the test, use state-of-the-art technology which will bring Noor's story to life.

The exhibition is suitable for all ages, however children under 12 may need to be supervised when using the exhibition.

The exhibition is in English only.
