Talk: the story of 15 y/o Valentine Strudwick

During this special lecture, our historian will take you through the story of Valentine Strudwick, one of the youngest British soldiers to fall during the First World War.
At just 15 years old, Valentine enlisted, and at the age of 16, he was killed in battle around Ypres. His story is one of youth, courage, and the harsh reality of war.
In this lecture, we will take you through:
- The life story of Valentine Strudwick
- The historical context in which young soldiers ended up at the front
- The human side behind the statistics of the Great War
- The role of the CWGC and the care of his grave at CWGC Essex Farm Cemetery in Ypres
