Location information
The old town cemetery is situated at the end of Gospel St. The graves are scattered throughout the main section with the exception of those in separate walled Plot D, which houses the alternative commemoration headstones from an unmaintainable section of the cemetery and an explanatory plaque.
Visiting information
The war graves are mostly in one section but not in one plot. The headstones from graves which were widely scattered in dense bush and elephant grass where maintenance was impossible, were concentrated in one row in a section immediately alongside the first section and an explanatory stone erected in front of the row. There is also a Garden of Remembrance in which graves of soldiers of the Anglo-Boer War have been concentrated.
History information
During the Second world War, Barberton was the location of a big Union Defence Force training establishment which was served by a large Military General Hospital. The cemetery contains three Commonwealth burials of the First World War and 32 from the Second World War.
