Honiara lies on the north-western tip of the island of Guadalcanal.
History information
The five Commonwealth casualties of the Second World War buried in this cemetery belonged to the 1st and 3rd Battalions of the Fiji Infantry Regiment which took part in the fighting at Guadalcanal. Their comrades who died in the 1st Commando Fiji Guerillas and who have no known grave are commemorated by name on the Suva Memorial. Those who served in the local forces of the Solomon Islands are commemorated by name on the Bourail Memorial in New Caledonia.
