Historical Note
This Memorial commemorates 81 casualties of the First World War buried within the African and Indian plots of Pemba Cemetery whose graves were unidentifiable. The original memorial had a general inscription, with the names recorded in a printed memorial register. In 2011, new panels carrying the names of the dead were added to the memorial.

Location information
The memorial is located in Pemba Cemetery, which is located in the town of Pemba set up on a hill. On entering the town along the airport road, you will pass a large church on the left side called Santa Isabela. Take the first road left, then first right, first left again and the cemetery is found at the end of the road on the left.
History information
Pemba Memorial commemorates 81 African and Indian soldiers and sailors buried outside of the Commonwealth plots of the cemetery, whose graves could not be maintained.
