PLANNING YOUR VISIT

The Centre is open Monday to Friday, from March to November.

We are closed on weekends, public holidays, and during the winter period.

We also host special open days and events, so please check back regularly.

Yes. All visits are by advance booking only.

There is no walk‑in or free‑flow access, allowing us to manage group sizes and give every visitor the best possible experience.

We offer two guided visit times daily: 10:00 & 14:00

These timings help our team prepare the site and keep the experience running smoothly.

If you need an alternative time for a group, please contact us directly.

Yes. We regularly welcome school groups and can adapt content on request to support different ages or learning goals.

Your guided tour includes behind‑the‑scenes access to CWGC operations, including:

  • Horticulture and landscaping
  • Stonemasonry and masonry
  • Headstone engraving
  • Carpentry
  • Metalwork
  • Conservation, archaeology, and forensic anthropology
  • An introduction to our work across 23,000 sites worldwide

The tour involves discussion of war, remembrance, and casualty commemoration.

While not graphic, some topics may be emotionally sensitive for younger or vulnerable visitors.

We recommend:

  • Comfortable, closed footwear
  • Weather‑appropriate layers (some spaces are open and unheated)

We advise checking travel routes in advance to ensure a timely arrival.

Yes. We offer:

  • Free car parking
  • Dedicated coach bays
  • Accessible parking spaces for visitors with reduced mobility

Yes. The main areas are step‑free and accessible.

  • To help us best support your visit, please contact us in advance if you:
  • Use a wheelchair or mobility device
  • Require seating at intervals
  • Are visiting with an assistance dog (Assistance dogs are welcome.)

Children under 12 go free. Foundation members and volunteers are offered a 50% discount.
We also offer commission and partnership opportunities for tour operators.

General admission bookings join a group of up to 8 visitors.

Groups may be mixed, but total size will not exceed 8.

Groups of 9–13 and 14–25 can be booked through our online group booking section, which includes discounted rates.

If you are delayed, please contact us as soon as possible.

We will try to help, but entry cannot be guaranteed once the tour has begun, as visits run to a fixed schedule.

DURING YOUR VISIT

Yes. All experiences are guided by a trained member of the CWGC team.

A typical tour lasts 60–90 minutes, depending on group size and the number of questions.

Yes, but please note:

  • This is an active operational site with functioning workshops
  • Some areas may be noisy
  • Children must remain supervised at all times

Photography is permitted in most areas as directed by a team member.

However:

  • Filming or commercial photography requires advance permission

Tours are available in English and French.

For other languages, please get in touch before your visit, availability may vary.

For pre‑booked groups, we can arrange:

We cannot store large suitcases or luggage.

Small bags are allowed.

Only assistance dogs are allowed on site.
